Prayer is a conversation with God

Prayer is a conversation with God

"Pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

People breathe unconsciously. Christian prayer is like breathing. Just as we die when we stop breathing, we die spiritually when we stop praying.  We want to pray naturally just like our breathing.

Christian prayer is a conversation, a dialogue with God. It is a fellowship with God. You may think that prayers are like chanting, but that is not the case. If the "Lord's Prayer" is simply a repetition, it is no different from chanting.

The mother tells to her injured child, "Pain, pain, go away." The child is relieved by the words (voice) and the pain is relieved. This is because psychologically it gives the child a sense of security. In the same way, repeated prayers have a certain effect in gaining relief, but they are not prayers. Prayer is a conversation and a fellowship with God.

You don't need to worry that you can't pray well.  However, there is a prayer with a bit of a ritual aspect, called public prayer. Personal prayer should be prayed like a normal conversation.

The content of a prayer can be anything. However, if you praise God, appreciate God's grace, confess a sin, petition (pray for oneself), and pray for others, prayers can be better.   (Pastor)
