Scripture:Mark16:9-13  Sermon title Jesus is risen

Today's Bible passage is that after Jesus rose and appeared to people.

This year's Easter is April 21st.

We will learn about the resurrection of Jesus again in the Easter service.

I would like you to focus on “they did not believe it” (verses 11,13) of the Bible.

Why didn't the disciples believe?

When Jesus rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had driven seven demons.  (verse 9)

Magdalen is a name of the village. She is Mary from Magdalene.

It is written in the Gospel of Luke, some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out (Luke 8: 2)

Mary met the resurrected Jesus and she went and told those who had been with him and who were mourning and weeping. (verse 10)

They were not happy to hear Mary's good news. On the contrary,  when they heard that Jesus was alive and that she had seen him, they did not believe it. (verse 11)

Why they didn't believe it because Mary was a woman. There was a bias in their hearts that they didn’t want to believe in what women said.

However, it was not only the reason that they do not believe women's saying.

Afterward Jesus appeared in a different form to two of them while they were walking in the country. These returned and reported it to the rest; but they did not believe them either. (verses 12-13)

The two are described in more detail in Luke 24: 13-35.

The two had left Jerusalem and fled to the countryside.

Even though they met resurrected Jesus, they did not believe in the resurrection of Jesus that they did not know that it was Jesus.

It is natural for them to believe that they did not believe in Jesus' resurrection suddenly they returned and said that they met Jesus.

From this it is clear that Jesus' disciples did not believe in His resurrection smoothly.

Even the doubtful disciples believed in Jesus 'resurrection, so Jesus' resurrection was unquestionably true.

Jesus appeared and said to Thomas who didn’t believe that Jesus was resurrected.

Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”(John 20:29)

Now days the world says that we should doubt things first. Yet we cannot believe what people are saying.

That is why we need something we can surely believe in.
